A Blessing or a Curse

The invisible young man

able to move

without being seen

without drawing attention

A Blessing or a Curse?

People walk by

not even a glance

further still

they try not to see

The young man truly is invisible

The homeless young man

invisible to people’s eyes

This life has touched my soul deep. Since I am part of a recovery program, I have met so many that this was their life. Great perspective on this. From all I have heard from their stories, there is nothing good they can say of it. Except now when they look under the bridge it is a remembrance of who they once were, and the common saying for any of us in recovery when we see a homeless, drunk, or drugged our person is “there goes I”. We have to keep working at what we have now. Thank you for sharing.

I understand you completely. I’ve had moments in my life where I could have quite easily become that young man. It’s by luck more than anything that I didn’t. “There goes I” is a very appropriate saying.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment
